Conflict Resolution for Peace
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project we would like to fulfill aims to promote peaceful conflict resolution, while engaging in an international dialogue. Globalization and global conflicts are a part of everyday life. By bringing together youth leaders from 10 different countries and cultures, we hope to increase their awareness of conflict, and help them develop paths towards resolution. These youth leaders represent their countries and communities, and it is expected they will return to these communities, bringing with them and furthering the understanding of conflict resolution that they will have acquired. The main aim of the projects is: - to increase awareness of youth leaders of conflict management and resolution through an intercultural dialogue and in cooperation by brinning together youth from 8 countries; - to prevent intercultural conflicts that are based on stereotypes, through the creation of an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation between these youth leaders from different cultures In the course youth leaders will discuss the significant role of youth participation in different peace building activities, and will explain their own role in a wider society. The project will take place in Sumy, Ukraine and will last for 6 working days (excluding travel days) and involve 30 participants from the following countries: Poland, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Italy, Romania and Turkey. The methods will be used all based on the non-formal education principles: roleplay simulations, group work and discussions, brainstorming, teambuilding and trust building activities, energizers, ice-breakers, getting to know each other activities, intercultural night, reflection groups etc. The applicant and coordination organization is Lubelskie Stowarzyszenie Fantastyki "Cytadela Syriusza" , LSF CS (Poland). Center for European Initiatives (Ukraine) will take the role of the hosting partner in the project. As a valuable project result we expect that participants will create their own project ideas for peace building and conflict resolution activities. The materials and results of the TC will be summarized and published in the Internet for the open access for all interested parties. In this way the youth leaders and organizations not involved into the project may benefit from its results. Additionally working in an international group will give the participants an opportunity to network and form international relationships that can lead to lifelong friendships and partnerships. We expect that new international projects (like within Erasmus+) will be realized by the partners met on the project. As longer term benefits we expect that the conflict resolution and peace building activities will be developed in the participating countries and further.
