Start date: Oct 30, 2014, End date: Oct 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

European Development Plan: Introduction “Giuseppe Luosi” High School is located in Mirandola (Modena) in the north central plains of the Po Valley surrounded by Modena, Ferrara, Verona and Bologna. It is a high school offering diverse orientations which are: Liceo classico (Humanistic studies), a Liceo Linguistico (Languages), Istituto Tecnico Economico (Economics) and Istituto professionale per i Servizi Commerciali (Business/Secretarial). On 19 May 2012, Mirandola and nearby towns were hit by a disastrous earthquake, followed by another of near equal strength on the 29. Not only did the earthquake destroy several parts of its centre, historic and public buildings and private properties, it also damaged several factory buildings. Since March 2012 an intense rebuilding plan has been in progress also in view of the high economical value of the area in the national economy and its role at European level. The European Development Plan starts from the needs and the opportunities that a multi-targeted rebuilding phase presents to all authorities: public institutions, private companies, schools and local organisations. Mirandola is the biggest of nine towns in the northern regions of Modena. Its territory is famous for important traditional gourmet foods that reflect the local lifestyle (Parmigiano-Reggiano, Balsamic vinegar, Lambrusco wine, cured meat production); all in all, high quality products which will be promoted and showcased at Milan EXPO 2015 ”Feeding the Planet” Since the 1960s there has been an ongoing transformation process which, thanks to Mirandola's keen entrepreneurs, has led to develop one of the most important districts in the biomedical sector, in the town and in its surrounding area, for the research and production of medical disposable devices. More that 100 biomedical firms and five multinational companies are based in the Mirandola district. Therefore the education system vies with food quality and health technology: a system demanding tertiary professionals able to face quality of work and market internationalisation. European Development Plan main theme "Communicating and promoting our cultural values: a key factor in the economical development of our territory and support in active job search" The following themes will be developed: a) Cultural heritage and territorial marketing values in the after-quake rebuilding b) Marketing actions to promote the economic and entrepreneurial achievements regarding our highly technological territory on the Internet c) Representation and valorisation of the district d) Methodological and organizational innovation of the local education system with a view to the building of Technopoles (as per 2013 Regione ER deliberation) and to the opening of the new ITS (Institute for Higher Technological Education) in Bioscience (start up October 2014) On the above issues the comparison with the teaching methods in other European countries is an asset and a fundamental enhancement for learning and teaching innovation. Their priorities are the sensible reduction of school drop-out rates and solving the incongruity between school education and the work world. The expected learning outcomes of the project made through KA1 for Luosi high school are the transformation of knowledge into life skills and added value to effective education and training, as requested by the business world.
