Search for European Projects

Competências Transversais Europeias
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Sep 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Escola Profissional Novos Horizontes is a vocational training school founded in October 2001 . Within the National Education System, all courses are certified with diplomas recognized by the Ministry of Education and include in its curriculum, training periods in the work environment, in the form of internship. Throughout its thirteen years of existence already has extensive experience in mobility programs, with the completion of seven projects , one ongoing , with successful results and an asset to the training quality of our students. This experience allows us to deal with the organization and management of mobility projects in an increasingly more secure way, now included on our own educational project. This project is addressing the Portuguese business community which increasingly demands to its workers a higher mobility capacity, both in relation with their peers and in their personal and professional development. Therefore, the transversality of skills, the experiences at European level certainly will prepare our young people for the European market. EPNH has many socially excluded young people at risk of dropping out of school and consequently unmotivated, coming from poor families , with low education levels, which leads us to adopt procedures that prevent these disqualified youngsters from prematurely getting into the labor market. This type of project elevates their motivation , their desire to go further, and the interest in acquiring skills that would otherwise be inaccessible to them, not giving them the possibility to be a social and professional value in the market. The practice of a non-native language gives the project a responsibility that participants take as theirs, making them proactive and interested in achieving their professional success. Given the commonality of skills acquired in these projects, the school will provide its project with the necessary tools for the implementation of ECVET namely the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding with the partner organizations in the project, thereby setting the foundations for understanding and confidence for the future application of this instrument. The main activity to be achieved is the practical training of 20 students from the Vocational Courses of Computer Management, Legal Services , Hotel Reception and Restaurant and Bar services . Thus, it is intended that the Computer Management students take their internship in computer companies, giving them the opportunity to implement the contents taught in their theoretical training. Regarding the Vocational Course of Legal Services, it is intended that these students make their internship in law firms, registry offices in order to become aware of the specific legislation of the host country, but also contact with the reality of EU Law, opening them European mobility horizons. As for the courses in the area of hospitality, students should have their training in quality hotels, which allow them to have contact with new methods and techniques of work, but also that compel them to continually use non- native languages, which are absolutely essential in their future profession either in Portugal or any other european country. With the acquisition of new methods and work techniques, when our participants integrate the labor market, they will enrich our business community with innovative European practices. On the other hand, these same participants carry knowledge acquired throughout their education and training in the working context carried out in Portugal, which hopefully will lead to a sharing of extremely enriching knowledge and practical skills. This project will also serve to improve the image of vocational education, including Escola Profissional Novos Horizontes, within the local business community and our community in general as well as in the overall context of National Education.
