Competences and Skills Development
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school has been involved in designing and implementing various European projects for many years. These projects have a positive effect to our students, because they contribute to the creation and development of a modern educational and professional profile. Our school is continuously looking for cooperation with hosting partners that either have specialized knowledge on specific educational topics, or cooperate with educational and working units which develop innovative objects which attract more and more professional groups. Our school has participated in European mobility projects since 2006. Since then we have implemented many mobility projects covering a wide range of training needs and we have permanent cooperation with hosting organizations related to education and training in Europe. Currently, our school is implementing a mobility project based on the ECVET protocol. We expect that such a project will supplement our knowledge and our abilities of managing an ECVET system. The project intents to organize a practical training period for students in initial vocational training, by placing them in various organizations in the city of Braga, Portugal. The project will be implemented in two flows, each of which will have duration of 21 days. The participants will be students from the sectors of Agriculture, Mechanical engineering (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) and Informatics. The first flow will consist of 8 students from the agricultural sector accompanied by 2 teachers who will be trained in mushroom cultivation. The o second flow consist of 4 students from the mechanical engineering sector and 4 students from the Informatics sector, also accompanied by 2 teachers, who will be consequently trained in website creation and management of multimedia applications and in energy subjects in heat pumps and air handling units. The flows will take place as follows: 1st flow: April 2015 2nd flow: September 2015 The main objective of the project for the participants to gain work experience abroad by being placed in organizations similar to the ones that our students, are expected to work in Greece after graduation. The project will also help the participants: • to know the structure and organization of VET in Portugal as well as its connection to the labor market • to acquire competences skills and abilities that will enables access to the labor market • to enhance their language and social skills in order to build a modern professional profile through vocational as well as personal development. The project will be implemented as a combination of internships in organizations by 75% and technical visits to professional and educational organizations by 25%. The project incorporates elements of the ECVET system. According to this system there will be a mutual agreement of the two partners based on contracts of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the Learning Agreement providing the evolution of the participants on the achievement of the specific learning outcomes. For each sector and according to any qualification, the sending organization will write an assessment grid where the learning outcomes are categorized in units and subunits in respect to the ECVET methodology. The hosting partners will then proceed to the evaluation of the learning outcomes of the participants using these grids. Moreover, at the end of the placement, the participants will fill in an assessment grid for the evaluation of the whole project. This program is expected to have a positive impact at various levels. Our school will form further experience in implementation, organization and management of IVT programs by adapting its practices to modern educational needs. It will also enhance its ability in the management of the ECVET system. The results of the project are also expected to have a deep impact on the local society. Consequently, we are going to develop an effective plan aiming in spreading the project’s results. This plan will be easily accessible to several groups which have an interest in particular topics and methodology. For a wider and more effective dissemination we will rely on modern communication forms, like social networking sites, whose acceptance by almost every social party seems to be rapidly increasing. The project is also expected to enhance the positive action of the school in the local community. Finally it will enhance the transparency and the transnational mobility in a learning environment without frontiers, creating the background for a total European cooperation in education and training.
