come and work together
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Sep 15, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

With the project “come and work together” we want to go further in the process of enlarging our emphasis on the international aspect of our work. Our experiences with international youth encounter confirm our belief that an international focus in every part of our work is beneficial for our target group. European volunteers contribute to an intercultural dialogue as well as international understanding. Meeting European volunteers and working with them should help children and young people to gain knowledge about other cultures. We are convinced that the effects of relationships to people from other countries are sustainable and long-term. The previous self-percepted world view will be expanded and every person’s horizon will be broadened. Diversity will be percepted not as a threat but as enrichment. The project “come and work together“ will involve three participants, two Polish as well as one Georgian. The volunteers are open towards working in a new environment and getting to know new people. They are interested in working with children and young people, and motivated to work creatively with a lot of self-responsibility. Furthermore they are flexible and able to work in a team. Language skills in English are necessary, German would be an asset. The volunteers’ work will contribute to the internationalization of our work. They will participate in camp programmes for children and teenagers, organize youth clubs and intercultural events for children, and they will be involved in Public Relations. Additionally, they will help with youth activities organized in local schools. At the branch office, they will get to know our administrative work and the maintenance of materials and help with certain tasks. The project management will take place in close agreement with the volunteers and the sending organisation. The hosting organisation will provide appropriate conditions and funds to host the volunteers. Furthermore, there will be several staff members to support them, especially one mentor as well as one project coordinator. The volunteers will be able to improve their intercultural and language skills and learn how to cope with new situations. The important benefit for our organisation is the development of the international work. In the long term, intercultural exchange and encounter can turn into a self-evident part of our work.
