The number of individuals using drugs that are found to be harmful and addictive have increased rapidly in recent years. It is much easier for teenagers to be exposed to these drugs during the period of secondary schooling. According to the research done by Parliamentary Investigation Commission, it is identified that the usage of drugs by the young people who are in adolescent period has been increased in our country, in 2008. The greatest need for cooperation for the studies carried out in the context of fighting against drug addiction is the chief pillars of the educational community in our schools, which mean our teachers. When reaching the young is not possible, it is so important that our teachers have the knowledge for fighting against drug usage. Especially the counsellors must know their responsibilities about students and communicating with them. In addition to this, other teachers are also required to cooperate with other departments and to be aware of the addictive substance. Under the leadership of our foreign partner located in the Netherlands, Helmond, our participants will be trained in the causes of substance abuse and preventive measures to addiction. In addition to this, they will also be visiting the addiction diagnosis and treatment centers in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven and will be able to observe the implementations of European standards in place. Training period will be proceed within 2 weeks which means 10 working days and 50 hours. Program will be in 2 stages and 20 teachers will be participating. With this program, our participants will be able to learn the different approaches about "the measures taken against drug addiction in children" with the leadership of our abroad partner. Participants will learn the differences between the application in our country and European standards. With the competences they gained, participants will be learning about the factors that trundler the children to the usage of drugs and will improve their capacity of understanding. In addition, they will also be learning about the new teaching methods. Our goal with this project is to improve the professional competence of our participants and help them train their students physically, mentally and emotionally. Skills and experiences acquired during the project will be shared with the parents of students and awareness will be raised. Outputs as results of the project, will be shared with the teachers. This way necessary measures will be provided. Outputs will not only be shared with our school but also will be shared with wider audiences. Therefore we aim to raise the awareness about substance abuse at a regional and national level.
