Period of early childhood is the period in which children have the highest learning capacity, develop cultural norms and acquire basic habits. With the rapid development of brain, the foundations, which will affect health, learning skills and behaviors of person throughout his entire life, are laid in early ages. Cognitive abilities of children develop during this period and their social, emotional and physical development is parallel to this. That's why, early childhood education has a very important place also in our country as well as around the world. Departments of Child Development and Education in the vocational training schools train the personnel who knows physical, psychomotor, mental, linguistic, social and emotional characteristics of 0-6 year old children, can implement the plans prepared, has knowledge about child health and diseases and helps teachers implement the education program suitable for the child's development policy.Our education system is mostly intended to provide students with theoretical vocational knowledge. Our students cannot gain enough practical experience since the institutions and organizations in the region operating in the field of Child Development and Education are rare and they are reluctant to employ trainee students and the existing education system remains incapable in this regard. Because of these reasons, effective solutions can't be found for the problems encountered in the education of with different cultural characteristics; the students have difficulties in putting their theoretical knowledge into practice during working life; and they can't even get employed in their field of study. Our students studying Child Development and Education need to empower their pedagogical competences in parallel to innovative approaches, to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practices, to gain work experience and to strengthen their personal development. In order to satisfy these needs, we have built a consortium between SIZIR MPAHS and Bekir Sacide Filiz Keleşoğlu VTAHS under the leadership of our school Selendi MPAHS.Our project aims to enable the Child Development and Education field students in 11th and 12th Grades from Selendi MPAHS, SIZIR MPAHS and Bekir Sacide Filiz Keleşoğlu VTHS to strengthen their vocational and pedagogical competences concerning early childhood education, to gain work experience, to acquire the qualifications required for employment and to improve themselves personally. So as to achieve these aims, we have established partnerships with the organizations of Kindertagesstätte Melanchthon(Germany), Materska skola Tyrsovka v Praze 12 (Czech Republic) and Isma Kindergarten und Gesamtschule Muhammed Asad (Austria).Vocational and personal qualifications expected by employers from our graduates, education levels and theoretical knowledge of our students have been the source to determine project training content and plan. The participants will be chosen from students in 11th and 12th grades who have successfully completed grade 10. Duration of the placement abroad has been decided to last 3 weeks considering existing vocational knowledge, pedagogical competences and work experience requirement of our students. We have also received our foreign partners' opinions while preparing project training content.We will create a project management team including representative of each project partner. This team will ensure coordination among the partners, manage the process in an effective way, assure implementation of planned activities relevantly, provide the participant students with support services and carry out project-related works and operations. After informing potential participants, the participants will be determined by the commissions to be established by each local partner school. After then, training activities will be organized to prepare the participant students for placement process abroad. Thanks to the training activities to be conducted within the foreign partners, our 36 students will have; improved their practical skills for early childhood education through practices, strengthened their pedagogical competences within the framework of innovative approaches, learned innovative approaches to pre-school education of children with different cultural characteristics, strengthened their personal development by improving their foreign language skills and recognizing different cultures, strengthened their qualifications for employmentgained a quality work experience.Our participant students' acquisitions and the certificating verifying these acquisitions will pave the way for their employment.The project will also make a contribution to;• achievement of the objective in 2015-2019 strategic plan of the Ministry of National Education to increase the quality of pre-school education services,• realization of national and international policies to increase participation of women in working life.
