COASTAL GUARD OPERATIONAL MEANS

For the Coastal Guard to be able to meet present day requirements, it should improve its operations, mainly in the area of the external sea border security and patrolling, as well as be able to conduct search and rescue operations. Expected Results: Therefore, for the Coastal Guard to upgrade its operations in the area of the external sea border security, it is necessary to procure:1. A search and rescue patrol boat (about 20 m long), which would be able to operate at open seas under adverse weather conditions, either autonomously as a unit or in conjunction with other Coast Guard operational means such as airplanes, helicopters, patrol boats etc. Depending on the operational requirements, the boat will be moored in the port of the prefecture of Lasithi. 2. Three patrol boats for the Coastal Guard personnel (Special Forces) to be able to immediately respond to urgent operational situations. Depending on the operational requirements, the boats will be moored in the ports of Ierapetra, Sitia and St. Nikolaos. One fuel-carrying tanker to refuel patrol boats and increase the length of their operational time. Patrol boats will be based at Lasithi Port depending on operational requirements.
