Coast to coast. Section: Tourist/environmental and cultural education and training
Start date: Dec 31, 2002, End date: Jun 29, 2008 PROJECT  FINISHED

The initiative entitled “Coast to Coast” promotes the socio-economic development of the area of the Po delta and consists of five direct actions aimed at strengthening cooperation between Italian and Slovenian economic institutions and operators, through the establishment of a tourist, cultural, environmental and training flow between the two sides of the Adriatic. This project phase aims at creating educational/training and information courses for the operators of the area. The actions envisaged aim at developing a training action to ensure an adequate presence of professional figures in territorial promotion. Furthermore they aim at preparing the operators, entrepreneurs and representatives of the relevant Trade Associations to become a reference in the implementation of territorial promotion and marketing actions. Through the training of tourist guides and tourist entertainment staff the aim is to provide tourist services while promoting an environmental education campaign through the dissemination of knowledge of the territory and the lagoon environment. The general objective is therefore the consolidation of the interest of tourists and local residents alike on the natural and cultural heritage represented by the whole area of the Po delta, in order to enhance and increase its potential. This will be possible only by integrating the protected area with the economic fabric present in the host territory, through the creation of specialised professional figures such as tourism-fishing staff and ecological and environmental guides.
