Coast to coast - Creating a Visitors' Centre and a Congress Hall/Auditorium in the Po Delta area.
Start date: Dec 31, 2002, End date: Dec 30, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

The initiative identified as “Coast to Coast” promotes and supports the socio-economic development of the area of the Po Delta and consists of five actions aimed at intensifying cooperation among Italian and Slovenian institutions and economic operators, by generating a tourist, cultural, environmental and educational flow exchange between the two shores of the Adriatic. The project aims at creating a Visitors’ Centre in the Municipality of Porto Viro and a Conference Room/Auditorium at Taglio di Po, through the restoration of two historically relevant sites, the Palazzo delle Associazioni and the former Italia Theatre. The Visitors’ Centre will provide tourist information, useful indications and paper and multimedia material about the cultural, naturalistic, historical-archaeological, enogastronomic and sport itineraries available in the area of the Po Delta and in nearby Slovenia. The facility is structured into several pavilions for the following activities: virtual journey exhibitions with internet connections and the atlas of territories; a space for conferences and exhibitions; a space that will be available to associations and specialised operators (horticulturists, fishermen, industrialists, animal farmers) for joint fairs and exhibitions; merchandising activities (artistic handicraft). The Auditorium - seating almost three hundred - is the place where to hold seminars, conferences, events and courses as well as joint activities of territorial promotion.
