Coaching for Change
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

SummaryThis project equips youth workers with simple strategies and techniques, skills and competencies through Brief Coaching practices to engage with the young people with fewer opportunities they work with and make change easier. The approach we have chosen is underpinned by values, crucial for Europe today – democracy, human rights, respect for law, tolerance, acceptance, curiosity and courage. The training methodology (Brief Coaching) is enriched through the experience and expertise of partners from different backgrounds, working with diverse groups of young people with fewer opportunities. When individuals (youth workers as well as through them young people with fewer opportunities) learn to cope better and expand their minds, so expands their level of tolerance, acceptance, curiosity and courage. These values are crucial in a new-forming Europe, where we need people with expanded minds to address the issues of migration, refugees, asylum seekers in a way that embraces diversity as a value, instead of a thread. The project consists of three activities and involves the participation of youth workers on the one hand, and the tutoring activities of the project facilitators from six partner organizations, on the other. 1) preparatory meeting, aimed to bring the five fasilitators together in order to prepare a detailed training programme and an instrument to measure the project's outcomes.2) TC, aimed at equipping youth workers with skills and techniques of Brief Coaching to the extend that they are able to pursue meaningful coaching conversations with their young people and pass the knowledge about Brief Coaching to the disadvantaged young people. There will be 22 youth workers and 5 facilitators engaged.3) a closing activity aimed at accomplishing the project's tasks and at dissemination of the project's results and outcomes six months after the TC.Impact on national, EU and international level:There are several tangible outcomes to this project -report about the impact before, during, after and 6 months after TC (instrumentaliy measured)-a short film showing process of amplifying change- 22 new trained and skilled youth workers, who will disseminate their new knowledge among 11 partner organizations.Since this is a pioneering project, we expect it to leave a remarkable print on national and international level by hoping this project will initiate many further developments and attempts to equip youth workers (and consequently young people) with postmodern skills and techniques. This partnership has turned out to be a strong and promising community and we expect to take the youth work and youth trainings one step further by bringing in a new dimension over the next decade (within strategic partnership).
