Co-operation for the patients' treatment. Patients without borders
Start date: Dec 31, 2005, End date: Apr 29, 2008 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims at developing common standards in the health sector, by setting up seven joint Italian-Slovenian working parties: laparoscopic surgery; non-invasive cardiology; digestive endoscopy; telemedicine; regenerative medicine; emergency; labour welfare (this last group is divided into the following subgroups: the elderly, drug addiction, minors and mental illness). This initiative envisages the setting up of a project coordination committee and the creation of a body gathering the “Santa Maria della Misericordia” University Hospital of Udine, Jesenice hospital, Trieste District Health Authority 1 (ASS Triestina n.1) and Izola hospital (in Slovenia) The project is going to rely on the medical specialties to be found in the cross-border area through the mutual sorting out of patients in specific environments, patients’ optimal assistance in case of emergency, the improvement of medical-scientific cooperation, joint refresher training and a data network to connect the hospitals involved. The promotional activities include a video for the “emergency” working party and two booklets: one for this group, and the other for the “Welfare” group.
