CMC 2016 – 7th International Conference on Concept Mapping
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The concept mapping conference takes place every two years, after 2008 and 2012 it comes back again to Europe. In this proposal are mentioned two persons (Marion and Andreas Lercher). Both train, coach, advice in our educational institution. Both work for more than 25 years successfully in adult education, continuing education and further education. Lerchertrain is ISO-29990 certified as educational institution. The participation on the 7th international concept mapping conference provides us as lecturer not only an insight into academic work and expertise but also a comparison of methods through different topics, countries and cultures. The conference provides oral presentations, poster sessions and presentations of innovative experiences in the learning field of speakers and participants. The time allotted for each session is 30 minutes (20 minutes presentation/10 minutes discussion). Audience participation, as a principle of adult education, is stressed. The oral presentations takes place every 30 minutes from 9 am to 5 pm, except breaks. All together there are between 24 and 30 presentations a conference day. Due to the attendance of two members a lot of workshops could be documented. The concept mapping conference is worldwide unique. Because of the participation on the conference we will receive new insights in a very short time. The focus is the field of possible applications in new learning fields. After the conference and return to Austria we will summarise all insights separate from each other and present the results to each other. We will filter teaching and learning exemples for specific exercises. We expect a big and effective impact for our learning services. These results will have an influence to our curricula of the current educational courses. We would like to support our participants in transferring the knowledge from the classroom to their job.The new insights will be helpful in finding new target groups for our workshops and seminars. They can also have an influence to our management manual (according ISO 29990) and will lead to extend or respectively adapt our management targets. After the conference participation we plan to contact regional and nationwide media in order to report them about conference results and insights. We will also inform our customers and participants about the new learning and teaching models via a blog, a report on our webpage and publication in social media. We will disseminate the results within a network of human resources managers and our nationalwide acting trainer network. The on the concept mapping conference published insights about innovative curricula and teaching methods about visualization and mapping techniques will be presented and provided on public knowledge events. In our opinion this conference is almost unknown in Austria and the topic of visualization is hardly considered in the development of curricula. It is assumed that the wide and different topics will bring a long-term benefit to our work as adult educator. The content of the oral presentations and poster sessions are important as well as the transfer into the daily practice of teaching and learning staff. And all the conference participants bring along this practice. So it is an exchange on eye level. The quick change between speakers, contents and experiences challenges us as participants on a very high level. With this conference participation we would like to adopt new possibilities in learning and teaching. We will benefit from the participants diversity during the conference and beyond. Our target is to summerize the experiences and insights in a digital knowledge map and provide it for the public.
