CLIL: Mejora de la competencia lingüística en lengua inglesa.
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a result of the evaluation made, the executive team of ZER Montsant determines in the Annual Report of last year the need to improve students' proficiency in English language. For this reason, it creates a medium term Strategic Plan in order to achieve this goal. The Strategic Plan is based on the incorporation of the methodology CLIL in the classrooms. This plan disposes, among other actions, the need of teacher training in CLIL to provide teachers with elements to help to decide what content should be taught in a foreign language, how should this content be integrated in the curriculum, the relationship between linguistic and non-linguistic areas and how we can benefit from the use of ICT when teaching CLIL . We believe that not only the participation of the English teacher is needed, but also two tutors have to take part in the training, too. The management team values the appropriateness of this course being conducted in English and for this reason, after having considered several options, the CLIL course provided by the BEET Language Centre en Bournemouth, the UK was selected. Moreover, the strategic plan states how to transmit the content of the course to the other teachers of the school. This training is expected not only to provide the participating teachers with knowledge and skills in CLIL methodology or to increase their English language proficiency, but also, we believe that it will contribute to educational innovation, to the incorporation of ICTs and to increase multicultural skills among our students, offering the opportunity to link and share experiences with other European schools. This way, we will get an impact on students’ motivation, we will encourage teachers to share knowledge and experiences and to innovate. Therefore, it will be an overall improvement in the teaching quality of our schools.
