CLIL im Fachbereich Elektrotechnik
Start date: Jul 1, 2015, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a consequence of the new design of the school leaving exams in Austria, the introduction of the so-called "Zentralmatura", our school needs to provide our students with more English instruction - including CLIL. According to a long-term staff development plan various teachers of technical subjects should participate in a project like this one. The seminars take place in Malta or Ireland and this causes more organizational efforts - thus the number of volunteers is very low. With this project on the one hand the participant Mr. Spring can improve his CLIL-teaching skills and on the other hand it should motivate other teachers to register for the next programmes. The seminar in question is called "CLIL Course at Centre of English Studies" and is held in Dublin. The main aspects discussed at this seminar are: designing teaching materials, improve language skills and excursions for better cultural understanding. The organization of the project is done by the school, the participant is supported throughout the project duration by the head of department (Haidler) and the project coordinator (Nowak). The quality management is conducted by Mr. Gussmack. Matters of travelling and accommodation are dealt with by Mr. Gütlinger-Keegan, KEA. Results: Mr. Spring will bring new methods and materials into his CLIL-lessons, will establish a CLIL-team at the HTL Waidhofen and will recruit a considerable number of new volunteers for the upcoming CLIL projects. The school's library will be given a suitable bibliography (including CDs) for CLIL. The school's profile will have a strong touch of internationalization and our cooperating companies will gain a competitive advantage by relying on our qualified graduates.
