Civil society engagement & Community Media for Volunteers
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS volunteer joined innovative courses at the Community Centre Bennohaus for young youth workers to empower civil engagement and media competences of the youth. The EVS aquired skills and knowledge how to engage young people in creative media design and encourage their corporate citizenship. The volunteer acted as a media reporter about issues like active citizenship, social inclusion and intercultural communication - especially in creating reports for the bilingual TV magazine "diverCity". These new skills were and are important key competences and intensely improved the employability of the youth - e.g. right now he has found a job in Germany and will stay here. So one can say that the volunteering in Münster (DE) had a good impact on the volunteer's future career. The volunteer will took part in our qualification courses that contain the superordinate topics Video Journalism, Online Journalism and Trainer Competences. The EVS got good practice while working with other young volunteers in one of the editorial groups of institution - like the already mentioned "diverCity". The volunteer was enabled to train the youth - what he did - and to initiate public discussions and journalistic reports made by the youth about civil society engagement, democracy, intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the EU. Their media reports were disseminated via web-TV (www.owtv.de), sometimes also via the Educational TV Channel for the Federal State of Northrhine-Westphalia called nrwision (www.nrwision.de). Furthermore the volunteer got a deep insight into the field of project management. This also improved the cooperation and communication between our European network members and young volunteers engaged in NGOs and youth organisations all over Europe.
