CinéDOC-Tbilisi 2016 is the fourth edition of a film festival that grows each year in importance and has become a regional platform for the documentary film industry in the Caucasus. CinéDOC-Tbilisi is the only international film festival in Georgia and the entire Caucasus region that focuses on creative documentaries. It is also the only film festival in Georgia that has a year-long screening program in different venues of Tbilisi as well as in Georgia’s regions, called CinéDOC – on Tour. Finally, it is also the only film festival in Georgia that reaches out to young audiences via its CinéDOC-Young screenings organized during and after the festival. CinéDOC-Tbilisi 2016 will have three main competition sections: International Competition, Regional Competition (“Focus Caucasus”) and the competition for a young audience - CinéDOC-Young. In addition, due to our collaboration with the French Institute, we will organize a special focus on French speeking films from France, Belgium, Switzerland. In cooperation with the embassy of Lithuania, we will organize the “Guest Country” section dedicated to the documentary film culture and industry of this particular Baltic country. Our objectives for next year are: the diversification of our program, the intensification of audience building activities in Georgia and creating more ties to the European documentary market. We will implement following activities: apart from film screenings, master classes and presentations, we will organize again a pitching forum, during which talented filmmakers will present their new projects. We will have again a student jury, as this was a very successful tool in 2015 in attracting a young audience to the cinemas. We will also organize a workshop for our regional partners (who organize CinéDOC – on Tour screenings throughout Georgia). 40 of them will be invited to the festival, they will watch films and will be trained in programming and promotion of documentary film screenings.
