Cheers for Volunteers
Start date: Feb 15, 2012,

"Cheers for Volunteers" is a two-dimensional project aimed at promotion and exploration of volunteering and raising awareness on social inclusion issues among young people. It unites, a significant tool for enriching the youngster's career paths and a wide field of social problems that every person encounters, which provide room for improvement. This exchange will include 35 young Europeans from 6 different countries - Macedonia, Italy, Greece, Spain, Malta and Ukraine, which will meet in Skopje, Macedonia. During the 8 day exchange, the participants will attend interactive lectures and workshops about the concept and benefits of volunteering, and also implement the knowledge they receive. Emphasis will be put on the practical part - volunteering in institutions providing care for people with special needs (blind, hearing impaired, physically and mentally disabled), elderly people, orphans etc. The participants will organize field trips, amusement hours and spend quality time with these socially excluded groups. The experiences they get in Macedonia and the ones they have in their home countries will be shared on a conference with all the relevant institutions. We consider these methods to be of great use and importance, as they provide basis for the diverse set of participants to cooperate and share on the topics in question. The aims of the project are quite achievable - cross border cooperation, increasing young people's interest in volunteering and teaching and emphasizing the greatness and importance of helping others in need.
