Main motivation for the project realization is long term unfavourable situation in the field of youth participation in the decision making process on the self-governing level. Throughout the project itself, we see the space for improvement – by means of opening the possibility of communication of youth with the representatives of the local and regional policies, deputies of institutions working with young people and representatives of NGO’s, whereas we emphasize on those young people which are economically and educationaly disadvantaged and with whom we cooperate on long term basis. The aim of the project is to enhance the awareness of young people about their competencies in decision making via seminars where deputies of self-governments, experts and other professionals responsible for the status of youth on local and regional level will be invited as well; and thus to initiate a mutual dialogue between these parties. In preparatory phase, we will establish conditions for sharing information about project activities, ensure the team of trained people that will fulfill the project goals, we will assure the participation of authorities and experts from relevant fields and subsequently, we will invite young people for participation on 2 - day seminars, which will be held in following cities: Bratislava 2x, Trenčín, Handlová, Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica, Krupina, Prešov, Hanušovce nad Topľou and Snina. Frame topic of the meetings will be empowerment of youth on decision making. Our project is based on current cycle of the structured dialogue, which was announced by the European Commission for the period of July 2014 – December 2015. Assumed no. of meetings in project period is: 3 – day seminar in the preparatory phase for 30 participants, who will in the following project phase act as organizers and lecturers during seminars with youth; subsequently the seminars in named cities will be held, where we expect 400 participants (10x40), except for lecturers and organizers from the specified areas and authorities. Topics related to the participation and empowerment of youth in decision making will be discussed by means of a panel discussion. Outputs from the meetings will be continuously monitored and evaluated and results will be provided for the needs of the structured dialogue on the national level, within the final seminar "Time to change". We expect that thanks to this project we would receive more pro – active approach of the young people on the life of local communities and better participation in the public affairs mainly by enhancing of the self-confidence in competencies in decision making process by means of an open dialogue. Our ambition is to achieve an improvement in the approach of self-governments – by periodic meetings with youth delegates from cities and municipalities of self-governing regions and NGO’s as well. The aim of the project is also to obtain more effective implementation of the project outcomes to the praxis of the creation of the youth policy through monitoring this process by regular contacting and repeated meetings in towns, where the dialogue between youth and autohorities have been started.
