Changing places, changing lives. International Mobility and Migration in Youth Work

"Changing places, changing lives" is a training course designed to meet the challenges and opportunities related to migration and to international mobility in Europe. It will analyze causes and effects of migration, discovering the different components that motivate young people to emigrate. TC will discuss various aspects of migration: analyzing causes and effects of brain drain, labor, study and experience migration, migration driven by poverty and injury of fundamental and social rights, and through a structured program of activities based on Non Formal Education, this TC aims to develop in participants methods and resources to work closely with international migration and mobility in Europe, and what these phenomena entail locally, through the realization of the following general objectives:-development of a more tolerant, inclusive and egalitarian society;-support the reflection among participants on the different dimensions of migration and mobility;-exchange of good practice in the field of youth related to international migration, mobility and its influence on young people in the EU and in the partner countries and the opportunities arising;-training of youth workers to better address problems and opportunities arising from migration, together with the local youth and migrants;-transfer and development of knowledge of European mobility programs in youth worker;-promotion of European cooperation between NGOs that are in contact with migration and youth mobility;-the development of new initiatives in the field of youth and mobility within Erasmus +, to give migrants and local youth the same opportunities.Solidarity, tolerance and integration are fundamental values that this TC will promote. Activities will focus on the principles of intercultural dialogue and social inclusion, in both European and global perspective. The TC aims to equip participants with tools to spread these values among young people, to contribute to the promotion of a more open, tolerant environment which offers the same opportunities to everyone. The course will help to improve the skills and abilities of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, improving the quality of youth work, social inclusion, base and cross skills of youth workers, intercultural awareness, linguistic and cultural diversity and to increase cooperation and capacity building of NGOs. The TC will develop, therefore, the skills of the participants in the work with migration and mobility, promoting debates and actions on European citizenship and the universal character of the EU's fundamental values, such as democracy, the rule of law and human rights and their potential to alleviate the difficulties of migration, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and integration of migrants in Europe. The training course, through activities based on the methods of non-formal learning, will involve 25 youth workers from 11 countries. With reference to all the participants, this TC aims to develop their skills to deliver customized content and skills in youth work: Change places, change lives will create a specific impact on participants, developing their skills and abilities in youth work, useful in addressing migration and mobility with young people of their local community and in collaboration with other youth organizations in Europe. This impact will be reflected, then, on youth related to the partner organizations: they will have the opportunity to participate in new projects developed and, in a long term perspective, migrants will benefit from more comprehensive and opportunities for integration and mobility, local and not, that NGOs involved in the project will be able to develop and ensure in their reference contexts. Young people and local host communities will develop, however, tolerance and openness to integrate migrants into its social context, limiting social tensions and conflicts.
