Chance for a better living in rural areas 5
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is a one month and one week short-term EVS sending activity to Hungary from New-Caledonia, for 16 disadvantaged young people in 2 rounds, and one week mobility for 2 youth workers in 2 rounds. This is the 5th project on this host placement involving young people from far countries, and the 3rd project between the 2 organisations. The volunteers will take part in a project where they will plan and realise a common month with the other volunteers. Important part of the project is the common living (cooking, cleaning) and also the work in a city farm together with Hungarian workers. The volunteers will also realise activities in the city of Pécs, where they will also present their culture to the locals. This is a great opportunity to them to get an inside view of Europe, since although they are part of it, they have never been there. It is also important in their professional and personal growth, since they are coming from very isolated places, and this experience opens a little bit up their mind and perspective. This is a project that has mainly educational impact on the participants themselves, but also some smaller impacts on the local community. Moreover, special living conditions brought by the "islander way of life" influences the future of volunteers and youth workers. It is an additional key factor towards success.
