Challenge: the Leader
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Challenge: The Leader" is an international training, in which 20 youth leaders from Poland, Georgia, Hungary and Azerbaijan will attend (5 from each country). The training will be conducted by an international team of trainers, into which trainers from the various partner organizations will be included. The main purpose of the project is to develop leadership skills among young leaders from 4 countries and to encourage them to self-development and taking challenges up.The idea for realization of this project was born out of the needs observed by us both in our organizations, working with the staff and with young people, as by observing events in our countries, local communities and the whole Europe: for some time we could have seen negative trends among young staff - lack of will of self-development, lowering the standards, rutin, which replaces the willingness of taking up challenges. On the other hand, it gives the impression that this attitude is deeper and it is a result of the social attitudes of young people in general - their lack of faith in their own abilities, passivity, constraints they face and to overcoming which they are not used or ready.Hence the concept of training, based on the authorial programme and experiences of the Opolska District of The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association that assumes the formation of leaders by giving them an oportunity to put up challenges and to overcome their own barriers. During the training the youth leaders will have an opportunity to improve their leadership, motivational and communication skills, checking them simultaneously in action, and seeing how jointly undertaken challenges firmly build a team. It also demonstrates the potential of its members and it creates new leaders. On the other hand, during the training, we will try to think of such problems of the modern world as growing xenophobia, intolerance, radicalization of youth's attitude and speech of hatred and to work out tools for young leaders to work against those adverse phenomena, effectively affecting on young people in local communities. The training will be held from 7-14 August 2016 in Klodzko. It will be conducted using non-formal education methods during the whole project. Participants will take part in various activities: workshops, simulations, discussions, intercultural events and outdoor activities, during which they will be able to test their communication and leadership skills. We hope that thanks to our project they will leave the event as more active and aware leaders and that they will be ready to take up challenges in the community they live, and also that they will be opened to cultural diversity, ready to understand and promote it.
