CERA@MIC - Comprehensive e-Learning and Support System for SMEs in Ceramics

The CER@MIC project will provide a comprehensive e-learning and support system for managers and owners of SMEs working with ceramics. A knowledge management system will be further developed by the project. The ceramics sector is faced with productivity loss, due to a lack of knowledge and due to the continuous training involvement of employees. Project partners from BG, DE, EL, ES, CY, IT & TR will develop multimedia educational packages based upon actual needs within SMEs working in ceramics, with a focus upon manufacturing techniques and business management. The developed training material will cover the following thematic modules: methods of reductive baking in modern ovens; revival of the ancient way of baking of red faced and black faced representations; European cultural heritage as an inspiration for ceramic design; entrepreneurship; quality assurance in the ceramics industry; certification; environmental management and work organisation (e-commerce, team work, support systems). The final product will be an open and distance learning (ODL) and support system, which will facilitate the continuous training of employees in SMEs in the ceramics sector, to be continuously updated with new data supported by the knowledge management system and supported by a CD-Rom made available in BG, DE, EL, EN, ES, IT & TR.
