Celebrating Volunteering: Active engagement to develop personal and social competences
Start date: May 1, 2011,

"CELEBRATING VOLUNTEERING: Active engagement to develop personal and social competences" is an individual and Group EVS Program organized in Rijswijk, The Netherlands from 1 May to 30 April 2012 (long term EVS) and 18 July to 14 August 2011 (Group EVS). This program aims to create awareness of the value and importance of volunteering in our society. Through active involvement and engagement young volunteers commit to solidarity and stimulate their creative and innovative thinking through sports and recreative outdoor activities to foster social inclusion. This program aims and has the potential to give young people a first experience of European Voluntary Service promoting intercultural learning and European awareness in a mixed group experience. In this way this project creates an ideal set up to develop or improve competences for personal, social and professional development. The group will be consisted of one long term EVS volunteer from Slovenia and 25 volunteers (out which 1 for long term EVS and 12 volunteers will be young people with fewer opportunities) from 11 countries. They will take active part in the summer holiday activities (Vakantiebos). There will be a week of preparation and training to reflect on yearly theme. The methods of indoor and outdoor sport and recreative activities for the children (about 200 children per day) give the volunteers a good opportunity, to cross the borders of their countries, culture, and language. This will also promote many more individual EVS possibilities for our organization and partner organizations.
