cc- connect caritas
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is a cooperation between the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Warsaw and the Caritasverband Mannheim e. V., represented by the respective board members who have actively established this cooperation. The application, planning, implementation and follow-up of the project and the resulting stay abroad are developed in regular exchange and constant communication between the responsible employees of both organizations. The aim is that - through technical exchange on-site - the participants of both groups exchange views on the various topics, legal framework and working methods and learn from each other. The personal attitude towards their own work should be checked and corrected if necessary. Specifically the exchange with Poland dues to the fact that people from Poland are the second largest immigrant group in Mannheim. In order to provide not only nursing and / or social work, but also emotionally and culturally quality care, employees need to learn to think and act intercultural. This is best to learn as part of a stay abroad and to reflect in exchange with colleagues on-site. The internal but international networking should not only make internationality experienceable, but also offers the possibility of intra-european exchange about the value system of a catholic welfare association and so to look beyond their own horizons. Twelve employees from various services and facilities of Caritasverband Mannheim will participate in this project. Employees are assigned both nursing and / or social work tasks as well as they’re given the task of guiding trainees or students. The stay in Warsaw lasts six days and takes place in fall 2014 and 2015 with six employees a time. During this time the participants will form a tandem with a Polish colleague and accompany them in their daily work (job shadowing). The tandem partners exchange information on the procedures, requirements and problems and thus learn to know the other system in practical everyday life. The aim is that the employees get to know the care or social system in Poland, reflect on their role and improve themselves through their experiences. A professional city tour and other cultural activities, planned in consultation with the participants, give a sense of the history of Poland and the German -Polish relationship.
