Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In 2012, the Department of Education, Training and Employment of the Valencian Community issued a decree (DECRET 127/2012, August, 3rd, DOCV 06.08.2012) to regulate multilingualism in non-university education. The decree stated that the Department of Education would facilitate teacher training in Valencian and English. The Official School of Languages (“Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas” or “EOIs”) at the Valencian Community thus became a benchmark for this lifelong learning for teachers. With this principle in mind, la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Alzira (EOI Alzira), has decided to introduce the “Catering for Multilingualism and its Demands: Blended Learning and Teacher Training at C1 Level” project to make lifelong learning more accessible to both EOI teachers and target students who are and/or will be teachers involved in CLIL. The staff management looked for three profiles with relevant background traits, such as distinguished professional and training backgrounds, motivation and commitment, together with distinctive skills, such as a proven ability for both teamwork and leadership, training in evaluation and assessment, and knowledge of ICTs.Following the approach outlined by the European Council, which stresses the importance of a holistic approach to education, this project aims to integrate technology into the teaching process from a holistic perspective: the goal is not only to update our teaching staff skills, but also to support distance learning as a way of offering our students a greater flexibility, .With the aim of putting these goals into place, the educational range offered at our EOI implies the application for KA1 mobilities. These mobilities will render the following results:• A new training schedule at our EOI which will include hybrid courses, thus benefitting our teacher learners. In the near future, a greater number of students from various backgrounds and needs will also benefit.• A working group for the three participants to train each other on the acquired skills, plus a workshop for the EOI Alzira staff led by the three participants, in order to have them updated on their knowledge of ICTs, language level skills and teacher training skills. This will definitely benefit all members of our teaching staff.• A collection of materials to be shared with other colleagues, so as to disseminate the results in and beyond our school. They will also promote:• A collaborative methodology.• CLIL teachers acknowledgment of the fact that learning languages is an essential tool in our multicultural society. Likewise, these teachers will convey this idea to their students.• EOIs reputation for being a reference in lifelong learning and internationalisation of adult language learners.• The setting up of a network of collaboration with other schools, associations, and a variety of economic and cultural communities.
