Carnival Arts as a platform for inclusive cultural practice in adult learning.
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is a cooperative alliance between four European non formal adult learning organizations, who will cooperate on a series of creative actions that will impact on the partners and the partnerships capacity and capability to deliver high quality programmes within adult learning environments. The project aims to improve and extend the offer of high quality learning opportunities when working with participants from backgrounds of less opportunity. Our proposed project looks to design and implement effective provision for enhancing the basic skills and key competences of adult learners utilizing our partner’s best practice methodologies in carnival arts engagement. Through mobility actions/short term teaching we aim to ‘up skill’ practitioners and educators, engaging them in peer to peer learning in order to extend and develop their competences as part of their continued professional development. Our project aims to use carnival arts engagement best practice methods and tools to accompany hands-on learning that acts as a bridge between non formal learning and professional development. New methods for supporting adult learner arts engagement will be developed, tested and disseminated, through artistic and entrepreneurial training, that will enhance the transversal competences and skills of adult learners and educator/staff, impacting on their employability, access to and presence within the labour market. Our adult learning project objectives will be: To enhance the quality and relevance of our arts offer in adult learning by sharing of best practices models; Fostering the provision and the assessment of key-competences, including basic skills and transversal skills particularly creative and digital skills; Increasing labor market relevance of learning provision and reinforcing links between the adult learning with the world of work, particularity the create and cultural sector; Enhancing the professional development of those working or active in the adult learning field by increasing the quality and range of initial and continued training; Improving the capacities of organizations active in adult learning notably in the areas of strategic development, organizational management, leadership, quality of learning provision; Fostering equity and inclusion in adult learning to enable quality learning to promote participation of disadvantaged groups in society; Supporting future learning and career paths for educator/adult learning staff in line with their personal and professional development.Number and profile of participants: 100 participants from Black and minority ethnic (BAME); Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans gender (LGBT); Migrants and refugees; and people with disabilities.
