Care for care: Finland
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school (Sint-Augustinusinstituut Aalst) wants to expand its borders. During a period of two school years we want to offer 10 students (5 each school year) the chance to choose for an internship abroad. For four weeks, these students from the 7th year 'Care' will live and work in the Finnish city of Tampere. Students do practice in a residential home for elderly or a nursery. Developing language skills, independence, self-reliance, sense of cooperation and last but not least, developing European citizenship are the main objectives that we want to achieve in this project. Students in this project have a unique opportunity to expand and perfect their skills in the field of care. The educational experiences are also a benefit for the whole school and by extension the care sector because we want to share our comparative experiences in the healthcare sector with classmates, students, subject teachers, parents, mentors, ... So we get a picture of how health care in Finland is organized and we can show the future nurses in our school.
