Caravan Seminar: Circus Trans Formation

From the 1st to the 3d July, the Circus School of Brussels (Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles) will host the second CARAVAN seminar CircusTransFormation. This seminar will gather all the youth workers willing to learn pedagogical and methodogical tools so to work in the field of Social Circus for young people with less opportunities. By working in schools and poor suburbs with persons from fragile social and economical backgrounds, social circus acts as an intercultural exchanges stimulator. It helps participants to gain self-esteem, and confidence in the others, while developing their physical and daily skills. This seminar will be an international meeting gathering representatives of all the levels of action in Social Circus towards youth with less opportunities. With this project, we anwer to a shared diagnosis between all the sector's profesionals: the lack of skilled youth workers in social circus. Therefore, the seminar will be a three-days training allowing the participants to be aware of the notion of social circus, to learn basic skills useful in the field of a social circus project toward the youth, and build links between structures coming from around fifteen different countries working in the social circus field. The Circus School of Bruxelles will host different actors who are working in various European territories and abroad in the field of inclusion through circus arts during three days of hard work to exchange and share skills, experience and practices. The actors of all steps of the ladder will be involved: youth workers, circus artists, social circus trainers, national and regional European representatives, members of the European parliament, university profesors, politicians working in the field of culture and arts, circus school directors, and Cirque du Soleil social circus trainers. This project will gather participants coming from: Belgium, France, Finland, United Kingdom, Spain, Romania, Czech Republic, Russia etc. Theory and practice, testimonies and reflexions, analysis and show, these are the main activities of this meeting organised by the ECB, with the theme "Social circus as an inclusive tool for young people with less opportunities". The participative form of the seminar will allow everyone to be involved in an active citizenship process, serving the objectives: -Reinforce youth workers' capacity in the field of social circus toward disadvantaged youth, -Implement youth creativity for the settlement of circus arts projects as an inclusive social tool, -Implement multiculturality and European cooperation by the knowledge of political and social European politics by sharing experiences in various territories.
