BYOB - Be Your Own Boss: A European framework for training potential entrepreneurs from disadvantaged groups

This proposal aims to develop a training frame for potential own business start-ups that come from socially deprived and disadvantaged groups. Such groups include, for instance, women, youths, ethnic minorities, disabled and people from rural areas, which do not have a good record in relation to creating their own businesses; these form the primary target group. This framework, and the specific modules it entails, are to be developed and tested in seven EU countries. Learners, i.e. own-business would-be start-up persons, are to be accredited. The end products will be the framework itself and a set of teaching material, available via ICT web-based sites and media, as well in paper form. In particular, a CD-ROM, useful for e-learning, with the relevant material is to be developed and made available in several languages, while a set of printed materials will also become available.
