Bury College French and Spanish language and culture project
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The context of the project is that we have one French teacher and one Spanish teacher at the Further Education institution Bury College in Greater Manchester who are non-native speakers of French/ Spanish, and who have limited experience of living / working in France/ Spain. Both are extremely enthusiastic linguists and MFL teachers who would like to improve the confidence and capabilities in their French/ Spanish speaking skills. Both are keen to improve their teaching methodologies in their classrooms. Both are keen to promote languages in order to boost recruitment numbers and improve retention and achievement in the subject. Both are always seeking opportunities to promote the work of the European Union, and this would be the ideal opportunity to do this.In terms of the impact and results envisaged, both would aim to increase recruitment numbers, and create more confident and motivated students. Our participants would feel more confident and motivated in the subject they love.We would also expect our project to greatly benefit other colleagues, giving us the opportunity to share good practice and increase innovation across the A Level provision. It would be fantastic to establish and maintain contact with link schools, which could only benefit everyone involved, staff, current and future students.
