buitenlandse stage als springplank naar de arbeidsmarkt
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Training abroad as steppingstone to job market De Wijnpers is a provincial secondary school with vocational, technical and artistic education. It numbers approximately 600 pupils between the ages of 12 and 20. The school specializes in specific areas like bionics, animal, environment and horticulture, cooling and warmth and also applied plastic arts. De Wijnpers opts for quality education based on the possibilities and talents of the pupils. In most recent years, our policy in setting up the educational programme has been to focus on a big expansion of project work, learning on the work floor, trainings and creating possibilities in connecting with the job market. The creation of 7th specializing years (vocational secondary education) and the Se-n-Se-years (7th years after technical and arts secondary education) fits into this undertaking. We want to stimulate pupils to broaden their horizon, both through getting to know another language, culture and surroundings, as through working in innovative, highly technological organizations linked to the sector abroad. We want to motivate young people for a training and job in technics, science and multimedia. These are sectors with a great need, both nationally and internationally, of competent and skilled workers and yet, there are too few young people who make a positive choice in studying these subjects, who develop a passion for the job and who want to contribute intensively to the needs of today’s society. For the pupils the project involves a training abroad in the sectors in question and participation in practical lessons in related institutes. The teachers participate in trainings- and company activities within the framework of a short, intensive refresher course. The project is expected to bring about a significant rise in motivation, self- image, practical language ability, learning- and work capability and capability of choice of these young adults. More specifically, planning and setting priorities, teamwork, appearance, reliability and punctuality, problem solving capability, communicative skills, empathy and assertiveness. The refresher course of the teachers is meant to create a multiplying effect. For school as well as for the partners abroad this project will function as a learning network in which knowledge, contacts and innovative ideas are exchanged. This added value can be further extended in future and lead to new collaboration
