Building and Teaching Europe 2020 with a European mobility
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Building and Teaching Europe 2020 with a European mobility is a project led by the Comprehensive High School Stéphane Hessel in Epernay. Located in the heart of the Champagne production area, our school is in line with a double process of labeling. Nationally labeled as a « Specialized Vocational School » in the vineyard and wine industry, we are obliged to offer our students ranging from CAP to BTS levels some vocational training periods abroad. The academic label « European label » binds us to offer each student registered in our establishment at least one period abroad and at least one school subject taught in a foreign language (known as Non Linguistic school subject, DNL) during the school years. Today, our teaching and administrative staff is neither sufficient or trained to compose stable teams able to fit these two obligations .Our European development project thus aimed at focusing on the two following issues: the first point of this project is turned to the staff members and the actions will be mainly led in training, improving the mastering of foreign languages. The second point is about searching new partners and improving our work with the existing ones. To meet these needs, we have a partnership agreement with the CEI in Dublin, so as to offer both our teaching and administrative staff members a training in foreign language improvement. These periods will last one week, during the two years to come and will mainly concern the English language, which is the most useful in our school. In order to benefit from this training, the personnel candidates will have to commit themselves into a double process: the acknowledgment of the training through registration to exams (such as the Diploma of skills in a foreign language) and the use of their knowledge and acquired methods through actions led in the school with the students : DNL, Etwinning, new partnerships, mobilities....Before their leaving, they'll be encouraged in taking part to training and assessment plans set up by the Education Authority, our school and our partner. The expected impact on the High School is great, Building and Teaching Europe 2020 with a European mobility will bring us the creation of a European division in the Vocational School, the increase of DNL lessons, the obtaining of the European Label and will allow us to fit the schedule of conditions of the Specialized Vocational School label. It's crucial for us to communicate about Building and Teaching Europe 2020 with a European mobility. The Open House Day in our school, the VITEFF exhibition (around vineyard industry)and numerous communication actions will allow us to get close to firms and students to show the efforts made by our school regarding the staff training. The intermediate and final assessment will be mainly based on a development of the actions led by our school in the framework of the European development project.
