Building a regional LGBT community - Balkan Pride 1

The main idea of the project is to gather LGBT organisations in the Balkan region and promote the idea of the Pride event and its potential for improving the livelihood of LGBT population in this region. The project will bring together 9 organisations to share knowledge and experience, boost their enthusiasm and above all develop coordinated and joint approach in developing and implementing their activities. The specific objectives of the project are:1. To build capacities of local LGBT CSOs on advocating for the rights of LGBT population and better serving their needs and interests; 2. To promote the Pride event as the form of achieving the desirable change; 3. To create a platform for cooperation related to the Pride events in the region in order to mobilize more people for the events and to increase visibility. The project is design to have 4 main activities: 3 mobility activities of youth workers and the fourth is capacity building activity. The first mobility activity is 6 day training with the topic of LGBT movement, history and achievements in the region planned to happen in Skopje (Macedonia) in March 2016 (7th-12th). The following two mobility activities are combination of attending the Pride event and 5 day training. The first one is in Thessaloniki (Greece), starts with attending the Thessaloniki Pride and followed with 5 day training on the topic of PR and marketing. The planned dates are 17th June to 23rd June 2016. The next one is 5 day training on Volunteer management and mobilising activists in Novi Sad (Serbia) that will end with attending the Belgrade Pride. The proposed dates are 12th to 18th September 2016. The last activity is capacity building activity in the form of follow up meeting of 2 days in Tirana (Albania) with open debate on the topic of Pride as a tool in achieving equality for LGBT population in the region. The 3 training activities are designed on the principles of youth work and social education, experiential learning and interactive methodology, which in total encourage active participation of participants. The major milestones: - educated 28 youth workers on the topics of LGBT movement and its history in the region, PR and marketing, Volunteer management and mobilising activists.- implemented 3 mobility activities- implemented capacity building activity with open debate, 9 participants of the meeting and up to 40 participants of the public debate- developed platform for future cooperation under the idea of Balkan Pride and identified concrete steps for the next activities. The partner organisaions are coming from: Serbia, Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
