Build your Future!
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Build your future” is a youth exchange Erasmus+ program, Key Action 1 - Youth Mobility. The project aims to build capacity, competence and skills to innovate and lead successful projects through active participation, practical work, group work and learning about sustainable development and environment. Organized by Boodaville Association, with 4 years experience organising courses and workcamps at a sustainable design demonstration site, 25 participants from 5 European countries will come together in an environmental education centre near Caseres (Tarragona, Spain) for 11 days, taking part in non-formal education through varied activities of which the principal task is the construction of a wooden geodesic dome, 7 x 8.5m.The objectives identified are; environmental education, development of self-confidence and the motivation to make projects happen, greater understanding of the functioning of groups and how to work together, skills towards self-sufficiency and autonomy, clarity about what integrated design is.We have programed group dynamics, theoretical sessions on permaculture and design, documentaries, a short design project in a small group, space for sessions organized by the participants themselves, visits to local places of interest and free time. On top of these activities is the wooden geodesic dome construction project with facilitator Jordi Cavaller. The dome will be a dining and workshop space and on the last day of the program the participants themselves are going to organise an inaugural event and present the project to guests from the local community. The entire program will take place in an interesting and pleasant atmosphere in a natural environment that reinforces the learning of environmental topics such as use of natural resources and sustainable design. Also, combining living in a natural environment with non-formal education will lead to increased sensitivity about the importance of nature in all parts of our lives and a determination to be resourceful not wasteful. We want to encourage a realistic and open vision in the face of current environmental problems. At a social/cultural level the exchange encourages youth participation in Europe by recognising that youth associations and participants have a role in the creation, design, implementation and evaluation of European policy. Also, the exchange promotes social interest in other cultures and better understanding of problems with employment, education, social inclusión in differing communities.Because of the environmental, social and intercultural aspects we hope that “Build your Future” leads to strong, united and integrated citizens of Europe.
