Bubbles at play: the role of non-formal sport and game activities for youngsters

Our project consists of non-formal learning activities of healthy lifestyle and the spirit of sport and physical movements based on outdoor games, tournaments and competitions, trips and tours, as well as activities, games and evennts related to dancing. We involve the participants to learn new ICT competencies through the digital documentation of the activities of the project by taking photos, compliation of videos and digital prezis, as well as their promotion on communitiy media sites. During the implementation of these activities, the participants have the opportunity to practice English. The project provides an opportunity for EVS volunteers to implement their own ideas, initiatives, creativity and entrepreneurship, improve their digital literacy, non-formal education methods and learn the Hungarian language from the very basic level. These events and programs are linked to the non-formal educational program of Búzaszem School and therefore the stutends attend to this school are the primary target group of our project, nevertheless we also involve local youngsters live in our town. The institutional demands of Búzaszem School that non-formal education programs and methods are welcomed to enrich the school and its community life, but in addition the added learning opportunities of NFE should be provide to lifelong learning process of all stakeholders, including students, teachers and adults alike. The school's development needs to be able to integrate the non-formal educational methods and regular application of them in everyday life of the institute. One of the main objectives of the project is to develop new methods and content on non-formal education activities and methodology, which - mainly provide skill development opportunities through sports programs and free time activities for youngsters aged between 7-15 years old and offer them informal opportunities to practice the English language; - contribute significantly to the development of the EVS volunteers' linguistic, communicational, social and civic skills, etrepreneurship and intercultural sensitivity and expand their knowledge and experience related to non-formal education. A 25-year-old boy from Turkey and a 30-year-old girl from Spain take part in project activities from february 2014 to January 2015 for 12 months. One of them has been unemployed since April 2014. He lives in the Eastern part of Turkey, in Gaziantep, which located in a peripheral region. The main activities of the project carried out by the volunteers are: - Non-formal learning activities of healthy lifestyle and the spirit of sport and physical movements. Preferred activities of the project during the year depends on the number of applicants for each study groups and the interest, creativity and entrepreneurship of EVS volunteers. Moving, playing and non-formal learning are the main aims of the activities. - Practice and learn the English: practice English via activity games in small groups for children and English language talking club for youngsters based on informal learning methods. Weekly Hungarian language training for EVS volunteers. Informal methods applied in language practice need creatvity of EVS volunteers and active partivipation of the participants. - Learning ICT competences: learning and using of new competencies related to communication on community sites and visualization tools, which is related to documentation and dissemination of activities of the project implemented by the participants. These activities implemented by non-formal study groups for students of the school. Results and impact envisaged and finally the potential longer term benefits are: - Positive change in the participants' attitude related to a healthy lifestyle, sport activities and the role of everyday moving, and about the importance of multilingualism and a foreign language skills. - Increasing important of non-formal learning mehtods in the education system of Búzaszem School and setting up sustainable organizational structure that can provide educational elements based on non-formal pedagogy. - Increasing number of local youngsters stand in with the co-ordinator and host oraganisation and formulizing a group of them as voluntary peer-leaders and as a result increasing their role and participation in local civil society and European youth mobility. - Establishing long-term co-operation among the partner organizations of this project whereby a new youth mobility project and a development cooperation in the field of non-foramal education could be set up. - more opened attitude and initiative of Búzaszem School and to establish international partnership and development cooperations on the field of non-formal education and youth mobility.
