Brussels Model European Union 2015
Start date: Jan 1, 2015,
End date: Dec 31, 2015
Brussels Model European Union is a non-profit student organisation, aiming to educate young citizens in Europe and abroad about the European project, democracy and EU-decision making.
Our association will organise Brussels MEU 2015, the first conference of its kind in Brussels, simulating the decision making procedures of the EU, where participants take on the roles of MEPs, ministers and heads of state. During the conference, which will be attended by 200 student or young graduates from around Europe and it's bordering countries, participants gain a multitude of skills like public speaking and debating. The formal sessions are intertwined with informal sessions where participants improve upon their negotiation skills. Often a position has to be defended that is not necessarily their own, broadening participants' empathetic skills. Overall, and during the entire conference, participants will gain a better insight into Europe's international politics and in the way the EU makes decisions.
The prime objective of the committee sessions is to make Europe's youth more aware of their role in society, their EU Citizenship and their rights and responsibilities.
