Start date: Aug 31, 2011, End date: Aug 30, 2013 PROJECT  FINISHED

General objective of the Environment and nature preservation, accessibility priority is the improvement of accessibility and information flow in the border region. The project contributes to one of the most important precondition of the cross-border cooperation, the creation of the regular information flow with the deployment of the broadband network to ensure the last technology, the most reliable and the fastest data transmission in the region that involves two countries and includes unprovided settlements or provided with unadequate capacity. Specific objective of the project:To connect 8 Hungarian and 4 Slovak settlements in an underdeveloped area to the optical backbone, then to connect it to the national backbone, providing direct connection between the two countries' service-providers, which connects those people who live on the two sides of the border and trying to eliminate their isolation on the one hand, and on the other hand providing a broadband internet access service to each of the settlements. The deployment of the broadband telecommunication infrastructure resulting a real time communication and exchange of information aims at the speeding up the joint economic development in the backward and commercially less attractive border areas of Hungary and Slovakia. The objective of the electronic communications service which covers both countries and registered by the international authority , by this provides a lawful operation-is to create a bilingual information-providing related to services, business opportunities, rules, tourist attractions, job content, timetables etc.The connectivity between the neighboring settlements linked to the national backbones aims to reduce the negative difference regarding the Internet access and by this to increase the efficiency of the information flow in our bordering landlock region. The local distribution network also contribute to the development of digital literacy for local residents, small businesses. Achievements: The most significant problem of the area of Nógrád county in Hungary and its counterpart in Slovakia is unemployment. Furthermore these areas do not foresee any considerable development any time soon. As they are so underdeveloped, telecommunication service providers do not invest much money into these areas. The project ensured the possibility to maintain and develop internet access of the involved Hungarian and Slovak villages. Namely: Magyarnándor (HU), Cserháthaláp (HU), Mohora (HU), Szügy (HU), Slovenské Ďarmoty (SK), Opatovská Nová Ves (SK), Bátorová (SK), Nenince (SK). The development helped the population to have good quality internet access, which can contribute to solving their employment problems.
