Broadband infrastructure in region of Slaná - Sajó (Slaná-Sajó broadband)
Start date: Aug 31, 2012, End date: Dec 30, 2013 PROJECT  FINISHED

The general objective of the project is to increase the degree of economic integration in the region Slaná-Sajó.Specific objectives of the project:Improving border communication channels.Developing a cross-border communication network. Achievements: The lack of broadband networks in the border region of the Slaná-Sajó is a long-term unresolved problem. The construction of a modern telecommunication network in a region with high rates of long-term unemployment is not attractive enough for commercial companies. The local self-governments as well as micro-regional associations had to direct their initiatives to areas of services which were not covered by the commercial sector, e.g.: ensuring the internet access via boradband internet. Within the frames of the project, an optical cable was built on the Slovak side in Lenartovce, Abovce, Chanava, Rumince, Kral, Vcelince, Strkovec, Lenka, and in Hungary in Hét, Bánréve, Serényfalva, Sajónémeti, Sajópüspöki.
