Bringing Europe Together
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Apr 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Local culture and language play an essential role in forming the identity of European Citizens, creating a sense of place, and social capitol. Whilst at the same time, as the Europe Union progresses in its efforts to further unite the member states, and actively promote and employ the benefit of free movement, a shared European Identity needs to be adopted.Young Europeans are faced with the complexity of sharing a common identity whilst still maintaining diverse cultural roots. With this in mind there is a risk of increasingly intolerant attitudes and the potential of racism and extremism resulting from fear of losing cultural roots, and disengagement from not feeling cultural connected or represented. In order to mitigate, or furthermore eradicate this risk, there is a need for youth organizations across Europe to have a strong capacity, and active objective in promoting an 'open arms approach' and appreciation for both the similarities and the differences in our diverse European society. Furthermore there is a need for young people to develop the competencies to actively engage and interact with multiple cultures. Therefore this projects aims to promote a strong European dimension within the work of youth organizations, and at the same time to develop youth leaders capacities in non-formal Culture and Language learning. In order to reach this objective the specific objectives of the project are as follows:1. To promote a strong European Dimension within youth work1.1 To give youth leaders a deeper understanding of The EU, its role in youth education and participation, its history and its values 1.2 To encourage youth leaders to reflect upon participation, citizenship, identity and diversity from a European perspective1.3 To give youth leaders tools in promoting a positive European Awareness and a European Identity1.4 To give youth leaders knowledge and skills to integrate a European dimension into their organization's policies and activities2. To promote cooperation in the youth sector across Europe and neighboring countries,3.1. To provide an opportunity for youth leaders to meet peers from different cultural backgrounds.3.2. To promote the sharing and debating of ideas and experiences between youth leaders across Europe and partner countries. 3.3. To encourage youth leaders to reflect on the different perspective of their European peers. These objectives will be reached through two activities, a training course in The Republic of Moldova 'Promoting A European Dimension in Youth Work' and a Training of Trainers in Denmark 'ToT in Culture and Language Learning. In terms of European impact , this project will strengthen bonds between the member states of the European Union and contribute to forming a European Union that is progressing towards a sustainable and democratic European society, with a common cultural identity, and shared European Values, within a context that celebrates and fosters diversity.
