Bridging Resources for Ecological and Art-based Development (BREAD)

The strategy of the project follows the scientific approach of cultural anthropology is used. Development of EU has led to the need for balanced integration of the whole European territory. In line with these requirements is the project strategy aiming at promotion of a harmonious, balanced and sustainable development of cross-border region. A special attention has to be paid on cultural potential and common traditions of the population in the region. The factors defining a positive socio-cultural environment could be such as creation of newly established and actively working centres, transfer of best EU practices, encouraging new initiatives and improving quality of life. The advantages of the implementation of BREAD movement concept and the enlargement of this cultural and ecological network are the basis for cohesion and better relations at community level, involvement of local authority, NGOs and educational institutions. The usage of e- resources and new information technologies facilitate the process of sustainable development of the cross-border region. The project intends to do investigation of common cultural traditions; published Bread Booklet; enrichment of touristic services. Achievements: The project envisioned and achieved the following results:- Organization two sets of trainings and workshops for the local population from both sides of the border: “Spring-Summer Holiday Traditions” and “Fall-Winter Holiday Traditions”. Total of 99 people have been trained;- Elaboration of Bread Booklet in Bulgarian, Serbian languages, with summary in English. Recipes were collected by Coordinators;- Establishment of 2 “Bread House” community centres in Leskovac and the village of Lobosh. Special bread making tools and equipment were purchased for the “Bread Houses”;- Organization of three Bread Day workshops: two in Leskovac on 23-24.08.2013 and the village of Lobosh, on the 19.12.2013. Participants made and baked several types of bread, pies with cheese and vegetables and pies with jam. The newly purchased equipment under the project was presented and put to the intended use;- Creation of links of the cross-border network to EU Bread movement was established. Additionally, a project web site was established, available at: www.breadbgrs.euThe project was successfully completed in April 2014.
