Bridging Differences

Bridging differences is a long-term EVS project that involves 1 volunteer from Poland. He will spend 12 months in Serbia, in organization „Living together” that provides support and help to people with developmental disabilities and their families. During his stay volunteer is actively involved in working with people with developmental disabilities in different types of activities: educational activities, recreational activities, work activities, cultural activities etc. The volunteer is also involved in project development and encouraged to develop his own activities or projects. His special task is to work on Youth in action project – Youth exchange for persons with developmental disabilities. Important part of his activities is focused on sharing experiences and getting to know the other culture. Besides his daily work in Day centre, the volunteer is working on a theme together with other volunteers from Serbia about the way of life of disabled people in Europe. The volunteer has an opportunity to learn Serbian language well and in that way enrich his experiences and knowledge. The main aim of the project is to allow the volunteer to express his personal commitment and to experience strong sense of contributing to local community and making lives of individuals with developmental disabilities better and more fulfilled. For a volunteer this will be a true learning experience.
