Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Over the past 10 years, the project 'Bre@king the isolation' for people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) has proven be very effective.A major demonstration of its effectiveness were the several final reports, written by the volunteers, sending organizations and other publications. The initial project was organized in 2001 by the European Multiple Sclerosis Platform which provided us a lot of opportunities to establish contacts with other N.G.O. The objectives were promoting social interaction and social integration of PwMS in the society. To promote social integration and breaking the isolation two young volunteers, one from Germany and a second one from Spain will come to the centre, both for a period of one year.By facilitating the use of PC and the internet and communication tools, such as Facebook and website information persons with MS (PwMS), will benefit from the cybercafé in exchange with many European countries and abroad. The volunteers will also facilitate social contacts by opening the cafeteria from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. and organize recreational activities with Patients with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) such as playing cards or practice with electronic games such as the Wii programmes. The volunteers will also visit bed-bound patients and offer them additional social integration by internet exchange.Volunteers will participate in outings organized by the Centre for PwMS such as shopping, eating out and visits to museum,to the market or film showing" twice a month. With a special adapted wheelchai r bike the volunteer will offer the wheelchair bound PwMS to visit the surroundings of the Centre (in summer time).
