Breaking Boundaries Revisited
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

2 groups of 10 dutch youngsters of which half of them has a physical handicap, are going to perform a voluntary service in Kampala, Uganda in May-July 2013. In 2011 we had a similar programme with our (Commundo) partners in Kampala; a school for handicapped youngsters and a educational programme in the slums of Kampala. One of the outcomes of that programme is a starting sustainable relationship between the partners involved. In our 2013 programme we would like to establish and deepen that relationship by sending out 2 new groups. These groups will be prepared and consulted by some of the youngsters who went in 2011. The participants will perform their service for 3 weeks. Activities will be based around creating possibilities for work and entrepreneurship and education through sports for both handicapped youngsters and the youngsters from the slums. They will learn from each other by doing workshops, visiting companies and institutions, organising and they will promote social inclusion through sports activities. The youngsters will be mentored and guided by a mentor of our partner ICUganda. Every handicapped person will work closely with his/her dutch buddy and his/her Ugandan buddy. In this way the cultural exchange, the personal development and learning process will be maximised.
