Brave Kids and the Secret Garden

EVS project "Brave Kids and The Secret Garden" will be implemented in two host organizations from Wroclaw in the period 01.01.2016-28.02.2017, it comprises two different activities located in different time frames. The coordinator is the Foundation for Social Integration Prom.The main objective of the project is to develop awareness and promote mutual understanding of different cultures and countries among all the participants by allowing international contacts and active participation. The main topics of the project are: Creativity and culture; EU citizenship, a European consciousness and democracy. Four hours per week will be devoted to the Polish language lessons. Methods that will be used in the project: workshops, observations, exchange of views, discussions, multimedia presentations, international meetings, integration, manual work, games and movement involve the active participation of volunteers. For the project we want to invite people willing to exchange experiences and share knowledge, interested in long-term work in a foreign country, who want to develop their linguistic and intercultural competences. Activity A1 with the program countries will be held in Kindergarten No. 2 in Wroclaw between 02.01.2016 and 01.30.2017. The overall objectives of the project will be implemented through the appointment of three volunteers from Romania, Hungary and Spain in the small intimate facility surrounded by a beautiful, old "Secret Garden" allows integration with the local community. Living under the same roof, living together stay in Poland, observing the ways of working kindergarten teachers, learning, experiencing the differences and similarities, participating in training, running own classes they develop a sense of solidarity and tolerance towards what different and new. Knowledge about themselves, other cultures and skills (linguistic, mathematical, social, civic, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship) they will gain will help strengthen their position in the labor market, active participation in society as well as to deepen mutual understanding among all participants. Volunteers will work in 3 groups of kindergarten with 75 children aged 3 to 5 years.Activity A2 with program countries will be held in the Song of the Goat Theatre Association from Wroclaw between 01.02.2016-31.10.2016. Two volunteers from Spain and Hungary will support the preparation and coordination of the program Brave Kids. This project is organized every year since 2009 in late June and early July. Creative workshops are organized for 28 groups of children from around the world (including children from Poland, Georgia, Uganda, Romania, Israel, refugees living in Warsaw, social groups of Roma from the Czech Republic) - about 150 people - who exchange their artistic skills, traditions and culture. By helping employees in the office (contact with foreign groups, create databases, edit the group information on the website, working with them and training local volunteers, to prepare part of the program for international leaders). In this way, they will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and expertise in the production and coordination of cultural events, improve language skills (English and Polish) and general communication skills by working in an international team, contacting partners, supporting the production of festival events. They will expand their knowledge in the fields of education, social and cultural development. Develop interpersonal and intercultural skills, increase their self-confidence, independence and responsibility. They will learn different methods of working with groups of marginalized communities (affected by poverty and exclusion). The involvement of volunteers in Brave Kids will enable both hosting organization and their partners collaborate with organizations from the countries of origin of volunteers.
