BOSCHing To The Future - A work placement at Bosch in Italy
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The traineeship in Bari, Italy has two different goals. Firstly, it is in aim to make further development of our school, the LBS Graz 8, possible. Additionally, it certainly is a great chance for our students to develop personally as well as in regard to their professional future. Through the project, the LBS Graz 8 is working on accomplishing the following goals of quality development: Improving the language skills of students as well as teachers Realization of life-long learning and mobility Improving the quality of education at our school Making further progress in regard to the development of our school possible by internationalizing and attractiveness Networking throughout Europe and know-how transfer to modernize our school Effects on students We understand the Erasmus+ program as an outstanding opportunity to present the European Union to our students as their living space. Since our students do not necessarily have to opportunity to experience the different member states of the European Union, they form their opinion based on prejudices. Besides increasing our student´s professional expertise, we would welcome seeing our students experience the wide variety of different ways of living on their own. They will make up their own minds, resulting in the reduction of prejudices. In addition, they will start seeing the European Union as a chance for personal as well as professional development. During their stay in Italy, our students have to mostly find their way around the world of work themselves. Additionally, they will have to overcome linguistic obstacles and socialize with others to build up their own network. This will result in our students growing in confidence and will also help them becoming self-confident, yet critical citizens of the European Union. The students are currently in their third year of education at the LBS Graz 8 and are educated in the field of metal technology. From their apprenticeship, our students have already accomplished 75% of their education time. This means that one can safely employ our students since they will easily become accustomed to their environment, even if it is new. In contrary to their professional experience and education, they only have small experience in living abroad and working with foreign colleagues. This project will help our students gain more experience in that field. Being built up as a traineeship at a production company, our students will spend most of their time during their mobility of three weeks working at this company. During their free time, we encourage them to work on the documentation of the project. Additionally, the students will catch up on missed lessons as well as participate in cultural activities to broaden their mind. The traineeship in Bari, Italy is the first one of its kind here at the LBS Graz 8. With only 6 to 8 students participating due to the companies intake capacity, teachers here will gain experience in organizing such projects. In the long run, the project has an important effect on the development of our school. We want to convert our school to a school that organizes traineeships abroad for our students on a regular basis, even for a higher number of students. We want to achieve that by appropriate spreading the results of this project.
