Youth got really involved and word from the succesful dance project spread among young people. The idea of making a new project, this time international, arised. Boombox Wow- Goes International youth exchange was held in Nurmes a year ago and now with same partners and participants youngsters are planning a continuity project in Portugal. First time youth from Nurmes are applying a project abroad. Youth feel that they are ready to make their first ever project in foreign country with a good partner. They share a same goal. All participants are interested in creativity, dancing and free ways of self expression. The idea is to learn from healthy lifestyles, creativity and break the ice by dancing- in order to boost youngsters self esteem and to find altenative ways to learn languages and from other cultures. By organising an youth exchange youngsters get a change to teach each other and talk about the issues which are conserning them, for example exam stress, future plans, pressure from parents and school.Youth are organising this project to gain inpependence and support for their own ideas on learning and developing their skills. Boombox Wow - On the road, will deepen the well started collaboration between Finnish and Portuguese youth and is very wanted and long waited goal of the long term participation of the youth. The theme is around the dance but objectives have developed during the Boombox cycle. The idea of the youth exchange is to promote healthy lifestyles of the young people and focus on the wellbeing of the youth. The idea of this exchange is to use creative methods such as art, street dance, beatboxing etc. for liberating the participants being and getting their minds relaxed and "cleaned" from the pressure that they are facing. As one youngster put it : "Its sometimes difficult to hear what I want! " This project aims to foster youngsters own future ideas and gives them a change to get away from schools pressure and learn outside of the school. Project also supports youngsters own ideas how to learn languages and how to learn to be in international surroundings. Long term goal is to keep up with FInnish- Portuguese network and encourage other youth to join international youth work´s activities. We believe that this project is making youth more aware of other cultures and themselves and in a longer run, making the world smaller and attitudes more open. Moreover, this project is an example of the active participation of youth and shows how they, themselves, have developed and promoted ERASMUS+ programme and its opportunities in the region.
