The project aims at creating a book series dedicated to the winners of the “European Union Prize for Literature” (EUPL). The series debuts with an Italian translation of nine books that won the EUPL between 2010 and 2013.The high literary quality of the series will be ensured by the publication of the winner books of the EUPL. The goal of the project is to enhance the influence of the European Prize, using the Creative Europe’s call for Literary Translation in order to:a. translate works of high literary value from Slavic, Hungarian, French and German and make them available in Italian language;b. finance a plan for the promotion and European visibility of the translated works in the Italian territory;c. offer dissemination opportunity to the EUPL within the world of academic research and literary criticism.Promotion activities will be:i. Distribution:1. creation of a e-book version of the whole series, that can be bought directly from Mimesis’ and other book selling websites;2. Distribution of 13,500 volumes of the 9 translated textsi. Promotion:1. creation of an e-commerce channel on Mimesis’ website;2. no. 2 “special events" in Europe (Milan, 2016 and Udine, 2017);3. a dedicated corner in Mimesis’ booth at Turin International Book Fair 2016 and at Rome Book Fair 2016;To support and complete Translation and Promotion activities, intercultural workshops will be created involving researchers from Italian and Slavic universities that will develop excerpts in Slavic (translated in Italian, English and French) of other works of the authors that won the EUPL. These excerpts will be subject to wide dissemination in digital platform.The project foresees the establishment of a European Scientific Committee composed of experts in the humanistic and artistic areas in order to start a critical high quality debate on European literary culture.
