context/background Our school is busy improvind its general educational qualities and outcome, e.g. by focusing on excelling pupils. Trying to get more out of Foreign Language teaching is one of our main targets. objectives of your project We want to encourage more pupils to choose French and/or German as one of their optional subjects for their final examns, next to English, wich is - of course - a compulsory subject. For English we aim at a higher level than just a 'pass'. A pass at B1/B2 level (CEF) is sufficient for the examns, but we strive for 'merits', at least more merits than we used to have. Excellence is welcomed an encouraged. a short description of the results and the impact envisaged We assume that colleagues participating in the projects will be supplied with new ideas and approaches to FLT, with the emphasis on differentiation, activating and motivating activities for both pupils (most important!) and teachers. the potential longer term benefits We hope to give FLT an extra stimulus, with internationalisation and exchanges as a possible side effect. Another additional effect might be the synergy and co-operation between teachers from various foreign language departments.
