This project , "Blink and be linked to Europe", has been developed to achieve the satisfaction of a number of needs identified in the school CEIP Yaiza, located on the Canary Island of Lanzarote ( Spain ) .
This center offers nursery and primary education to 265 students, aged 3 to 12, who are taught by 18 teachers . It has extensive experience in bilingual education and there are many areas in which a part of the teaching curriculum in English is addressed . It includes the presence of ICT and the development of " Programa Infancia" a regional project that aims to address the dropout from its base to influence the start of compulsory schooling.
The involvement of the institution in the development of the European dimension of education is considerable. We understand the opening to Europe as a necessity, and cultural and social differences as an opportunity for our students' learning . This conception of education is visible in actions such as the incorporation of that dimension in the education center project , participation in eTwinning projects, because we understand that they are the perfect way to advance the knowledge of our European partners, and interest in participating in large projects such as this.
As we have mentioned, we start from certain educational needs to be met by the development of this project, such as the preparation of classroom programming quality and adaptation to future requirements; methodological updating teacher, strengthen our status within the island as a center of reference CLIL by teacher training; contrast our internal organization to the organization of other European centers of proven quality to identify areas for improvement; offer our students an education that promotes that Europe is the common framework that can be integrated at social and labor; expand knowledge on cultural aspects of European countrie by making the necessary contacts to develop European quality projects , improve the communicative competence in foreign languages of our faculty and finally, improve the teaching skills of faculty keeping it updated techniques, methods and / or emerging learning theories.
The activities proposed for the solution of these educational needs refer to the following mobilities and location :
- "Job - shadowing " in a school in Sweden .
- Five training courses:
·Teaching creativity in schools , inspired by Edward de Bono. Slovenia.
· Task Based Learning. Czech Republic.
· CLIL - Practical Methodology for Primary Teachers . United Kingdom
· CLIL - Online Tools for teachers working Working with CLIL . Malt .
· Practical Language and Methodology. Creativity in the Classroom . United Kingdom .
As participants in this project there are two schools, ours and another one located in Sweden; four academies specialized in teacher training; teachers resulting from selection to join the team to monitor and disseminate it, who will be responsible for ensuring the optimal development of this project; finally, selected teachers for mobility.
The impact we hope to achieve with this project is primarily to meet the needs identified in the school and participants in this project, and the expectations around it . We start from the idea that its
application will benefit all target groups that will be broadcast and, especially, to students, who are
the true focus of this project indirectly.
